Once again, David Brooks seems to have hit the nail on the head with his piece
The Democrats Rejoice in today's
New York Times. I agree with him: one has to admire the tenacity and the social conscience of the Democrats, but at the same time one has to worry about the unsustainable fiscal burden they are placing on the nation.
As he says:
This country is in the position of a free-spending family careening toward bankruptcy that at the last moment announced that it was giving a gigantic new gift to charity. You admire the act of generosity, but you wish they had sold a few of the Mercedes to pay for it.
