As he points out, the global warming effect already has enough momentum that even the most extreme measures to reduce greenhouse gases still won't slow the process for decades yet, and the half measures the world is more likely to take will require even longer to slow the process. So, he argues, even as we work hard to reverse the process, we had better also be preparing to live with global warming for the rest of our lifetimes.
